This is a list of South Carolina governors. The current governor of South Carolina is Henry McMaster; he has been in office since 24 January 2017. South Carolina governors are counted only once; therefore, Joseph West, for instance, a colonial governor who served three non-consecutive terms, is considered the 2nd Governor of South Carolina, not the 2nd, 4th, and 7th.

The most recent U.S. governor of South Carolina to die was James Burrows Edwards (served 1975â"1979, born 1927), on December 26, 2014. The most recently serving governor to die was Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. (served 1987â"1995, born 1940) on December 7, 2005.
